Pashto is spoken by around forty million people, principally in Afghanistan and the north-west of Pakistan. It is one of the two official languages of Afghanistan.
Digital religious resources in Pashto are markedly thinner than in Urdu or Arabic, which makes a properly rendered Pashto translation more valuable than the speaker count alone suggests. Many Pashto speakers read religious material in Urdu or Arabic out of necessity rather than preference.
Pashto uses an extended Perso-Arabic script with additional letters for sounds that Arabic does not have. Correct rendering requires font support for those characters, which is a common failure point in applications that treat Pashto as a minor variant of Arabic.
Offline access matters disproportionately here. Connectivity across much of the Pashto-speaking region is intermittent, so a translation that requires a live connection to read is of limited use. Islam365 caches the text on the device.
