About to pray in a new place and not sure which way to face? Whether you’re at home, in a hotel, an office or an airport, here are four simple ways to find the Qibla direction accurately.
Method 1: AR Qibla in Islam365 (easiest)
Open Islam365 and tap Qibla. Allow location and camera access. Hold your phone upright and look through the camera. Turn slowly until the Kaaba marker appears and the app shows “Perfect Alignment”.
You’ll also see your distance to the Kaaba, the Qibla angle and your current heading.
Method 2: In hotels and offices
Many hotels in Muslim-majority countries put a Qibla sticker in a drawer or on the ceiling. Ask reception. They’re often asked this. Check with Islam365’s AR Qibla to confirm.
Common mistakes to avoid
❌ Not calibrating your compass ❌ Standing near metal, speakers or magnetic phone cases (they disturb the compass) ❌ Holding the phone at an angle instead of flat (compass) or upright (AR) ❌ Location services turned off
FAQ
How do I find the Qibla direction on my phone? Open Islam365’s AR Qibla, allow camera and location, and turn until the Kaaba marker aligns. It takes only a few seconds.
Can I find the Qibla without a compass? Yes. Use the sun method on the two days each year when the sun is over the Kaaba, or ask your hotel for its Qibla marker.
Does the Qibla finder work offline? Your phone’s compass works without internet. Location is needed once to calculate the Qibla angle for where you are.
