The question

Dear Mufti Sahib,

I am from ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง the UK. My children spend a lot of time on their phones, watching videos and following things on social media.

I try to teach them about Islam, but sometimes they donโ€™t seem interested. I donโ€™t want them to see Islam as something they are forced to follow. How can I bring Islam into their daily lives in a way they actually enjoy?

The answer

Wa Alaikum Assalam, dear brother.

This is something many parents are experiencing today. Children learn a lot by observing their parents, so try to make Islam a natural and beautiful part of your home.

Pray together, share interesting stories of the Prophets, read a few verses of the Quran and explain their meanings. Give them opportunities to ask questions without feeling judged. Most importantly, show them the beauty of Islam through your own character.

Dear , Allah Almighty says in the Quran:

โ€œO you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire.โ€

Reference: Surah At-Tahrim (66:6).

And in the Quran, Allah (Azza wa Jalla) teaches us this beautiful Dua:

โ€œOur Lord, grant us from among our spouses and offspring comfort to our eyes and make us an example for the righteous.โ€

Dua Reference: Surah Al-Furqan (25:74).

May Allah make our children righteous, protect their faith and make them a source of happiness for their families. Ameen.
